Air Resources Board (CARB):	The leader of California's efforts to clean up the air. Smog Check is one part of California's overall strategy. The guiding document of California's air pollution control efforts is the State Implementation Plan, or SIP. CARB is also in charge of the Cleaner Burning Gasoline program. As well as the California Zero Emission Vehicle Program.
Department of Consumer Affairs (DCA):	Parent agency of BAR. Among other things, DCA is responsible for Smog Check station, Smog Check technician and Auto Repair Dealer licensing.
California Environmental Protection Agency (CalEPA):	Parent agency of CARB, CalEPA is charged with protection and enhancement of California's total environment. CalGOLD is CalEPA's on-line, red-tape-busting business permit assistance center.
The California State Legislature	writes California's laws, including laws governing the Smog Check program. Search for current session and previous session legislative information, including voting records and analysis, here.
Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV):	The DMV is a separate agency from Smog Check, and has purview over all vehicle registration and driver licensing issues in California. The DMV also regulates new- and used-car dealers.
